Drivers Motif Xs6 Usb

Hi.Would welcome any help with the following, I'd like to be able to control Ableton's basic functions with a yahama motf xs6. I can get the midi output (i.e notes) into Ableton fine, so I know the leads are good. However I've just tried getting the Motif to go into remote mode and the results were not good.

Basically the control buttons seemed to send midi note info, so Id press a cursor key and an Ab or similar would sound.Ive done some searching - but I can only find a solution for a motif ES and it doesn't seem to map directly to my XS.I have both USB and 5pin midi connections from my motif to an imac. Ive been trying to use this 'Mackie Controller' option but it just doesnt seem to work at all.If anyone can provide some step-by-step instructions it would be appreciated as this is driving me crazy.thanksL.
